Navy League Posthumously Honors L3 Communications co-founder, CEO Frank Lanza at 2007 Sea-Air-Space Exposition
The Navy League of the United States honored the late Frank C. Lanza, co-founder and CEO of L3 Communications at the Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition banquet on Wednesday, April 4 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Co-founder of L-3 Communications, Mr. Lanza served as its chairman and CEO since its formation in 1997 until his untimely death last June. Described as a defense industry advocate for innovation, excellence and personal integrity, Mr. Lanza was often sought as the subject matter expert by defense reporters and financial analysts in discussing issues such as the future of defense industry and the impact of the War on Terror.
L-3 Communications is one of the nation’s leader and prime defense contractor in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), secure communications, government services, training and simulation and aircraft modernization and maintenance.
“Frank will be remembered for his outstanding, steadfast dedication in developing businesses that supported the U.S. and allied maritime defense industry,” said John A. Panneton, National President of the Navy League. “He was an inspiration to us.”
Mr. Lanza served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Coast Guard Foundation. He received the 2003 Distinguished Corporate Leadership award from the Soldiers', Sailors', Marines' and Airmen's Club, and was on the board of the American Italian Cancer Foundation.
