St. Louis Council sponsors Naval Command College Dinner
On Tuesday evening, April 1, 2008, the St. Louis Council of the Navy League of the United States sponsored a dinner in honor of fifty-two students and six staff members of the Naval Command College Class of 2008 at the Missouri Athletic Club.
VADM Ann Rondeau, Deputy Commander, and Major General William Johnson, Chief of Staff, USTRANSCOM, honored the Class with their presence. Captain Sharon Richey, USCG, Group Upper Mississippi River, and Captain George Stephanos, USCG, Integrated Support Command, and his wife also attended. Mr. David Choumeau, member of the Naval War College Foundation, was on hand to welcome the Class of 2008 and Naval War College Professor Roger Ducey.
Following a reception in the Club's Missouri Room, Council President Robert Fredrickson welcomed the Class. The welcome was followed by the singing of the National Anthem by NC1 Generald Wilson, Naval Recruiting District, St. Louis. Doyle Wilhite, Event Chairman, introduced the VIPs and there was an invocation by Dale Schaefer, a St. Louis Council member.
Wine and hors d’oeuvres were provided courtesy of DRS Technologies, who assisted in financing the Naval Command College event.

During the evening, James Erlinger, Navy League of the United States National Vice President and a member of the St. Louis Council, presented the Class of 2008 with a Proclamation from St. Louis Mayor Frances Slay, proclaiming Tuesday, April 1, 2008 “Naval Command College Class of 2008 Day in the City of St. Louis.”
As the event came to a close, gifts were exchanged between the St. Louis Council and the Naval Command College with Council President Robert Fredrickson presenting acting Class President, CDR Marcelo Gomez, Chili, and Captain Steve Kornatz, NCC Director, a copy of the “History of the Navy League of the United States.” MGEN William Johnson, USA, completed the evening with closing remarks.
