Broward County Council installs new officers aboard Caribbean Princess...
At 11:30 AM on January 20, 2008 the Broward County, Florida Council of the Navy League of the United States installed their 2008 slate of officers. Rear Admiral Mark Buzby USN Commander, Joint Task Force, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba was the installing officer. After swearing in the new officers his comments included praise for the Navy League and a discussion about the fledgling Sea Cadet Program in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The invocation was conducted by Rev. Diane Loberger of the Second Lutheran church of Ft. Lauderdale.
The outgoing president, Robert Hein, presented Certificates of Appreciation to the outgoing officers and board.
The new officers are: William Weiler, President, Alan Starr, First Vice-President, Robert Haab, Second Vice-President, Gerald Corcoran, Vice-President, Legislative Affairs, Marianne Giambrone, Secretary, Peggy Rabin, Treasurer, and Ed Rubin, Esq., JAG.
President William Weiler presented a gift of appreciation to President Emeritus Robert N. Hein for his leadership of the council during the past year. President Weiler then spoke regarding the direction of the council in the coming year and offered the assistance of First Vice-President Alan Starr to the admiral to assist in the development of the Guantanamo Sea Cadet Program. Alan is also the Regional Director for the Sea Cadets.
Luncheon was served in the Coral Dining room aboard ship.
