Broward County Council honors CDR Robert N. Hein

On Friday, August 24, 2007, Mrs. Pat DuMont, Navy League Florida Regional President, hosted CDR Robert N. Hein, Captain of the USS Nitze at the Tower Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The USS Nitze made a port visit after returning from the Arabian Gulf and the Horn of Africa. CDR Hein, son of Robert Hein, President of the Broward County Navy League Council, was raised in Ft. Lauderdale. CDR Hein was the guest of honor and keynote speaker. CDR Hein discussed a typical day on a US Naval Destroyer and shared stories about his recent deployment to over 100 Navy Leaguers and community members.

Mrs. DuMont presented CDR Hein with a plaque (bottom) and Deputy Port Director Glenn Wiltshire presented him with a photo of Port Everglades (top) in honor of the USS Nitze’s first visit to Ft. Lauderdale.
