St. Augustine Council Honors Pearl Harbor Survivors...

On Saturday, 8 Sept 2007, seventeen members of the St. Augustine Council were on hand at the Downtown Holiday Inn to honor surviving members of Pearl Harbor. The occasion was the annual meeting of the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Organization.

Council President Bill Dudley presented a plaque to Chapter Chairman Dwayne Reyelts honoring these men for their service and sacrifice in our Country’s time of need. These stoic warriors are becoming fewer in numbers, but are as strong in patriotism today as they were over 60 years ago when they were thrust into battle in defense of our country. Their amazing accounts of the most vivid details of that day are extraordinary when you think of all the years that have passed.
May the citizens of this great Nation never lose the sense of patriotism, honor and devotion to duty to their country that these great men have demonstrated.
