CDR Robert N. Hein receives key to the city of Fort Lauderdale

The USS Nitze hosted an onboard twilight reception after giving the press tours during the morning. As expected, the food and drink lived up to the highest Navy standards. CDR Robert N. Hein, who was raised in Ft. Lauderdale, received the Key to the City from Mayor Naugle and reciprocated with a ship’s plaque. Some of his teachers and friends from St. Thomas Aquinas were in attendance to see one of their own honored.

At twilight, as the flag was lowered, LCDR Allen Stein, Commander of the Ft. Lauderdale Sea Cadets, received the ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ Ensign from CDR Hein (below).
