The editorial objectives of SEA POWER magazine are to:
Provide a forum for top sea service officers to express their views on various topics of concern;
Provide in-depth updates to senior decision makers in defense industries, the sea services, and Capitol Hill on the status of major acquisition programs, policy matters, and operations;
Inform and educate the American people and the U.S. government about naval matters and U.S. national-security affairs;
Address issues of concern to the sea services and support policies that strengthen the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and U.S.-Flag Merchant Marine;
Reinforce public awareness of the sea services' rich and inspiring history;
Introduce the interested lay reader to the sea services; and
Support and enhance the activities of the Navy League of the United States.
