COVER STORY
Service members who find themselves in dire financial
straits from so-called “payday loans” face the double whammy
of potentially having their security clearances revoked or denied as
a result. Service officials and, in many cases, state regulators and
legislators are now rallying to combat what they see as predatory lending
operations that target members of the military. They also are spreading
the word that help is available through the services for personnel facing
financial difficulties.
