Greater Green Bay Navy League
During their local Annual Maritime Week, the Greater Green Bay Council helped sponsor two big events celebrating the service of local sea service personnel. First, the council teamed up with Door County Maritime Museum to host the Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Person of the Year and Mariner of the Year awards dinner, honoring the best and brightest Coasties and local maritime supporters. The 2024 Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Person of the Year is BMC Luke Berghuis. Bravo Zulu! Rear Admiral Jon Hickey, Commander of the 9th Coast Guard District, and Captain Parker, Commander of Sector Lake Michigan, were present to congratulate BMC Berghuis.
The second event was the Annual Maritime Week Coast Guard Golf Outing, where 19 teams of four sea service members and supporters enjoyed a beautiful day of golf, food and prizes. A job well done!
