Who Can Apply?

The Navy League Foundation offers scholarships to high school seniors who will attend an accredited institution of higher education in the fall of the current award cycle.

Eligible applicants must be a dependent, child, stepchild, grandchild, step-grandchild, or great-grandchild (direct descendant) of a current or former member of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or U.S.-flag Merchant Marine.

Applicants affiliated with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps must be the cadet themselves, not the parent, grandparent, or guardian.

Captain J. Phillip London Scholarship

The Captain J. Phillip London Scholarship honors the legacy of Capt. J. Phillip “Jack” London, USN (Ret.), a respected naval officer, business leader, and champion of service and integrity. Created to reflect his lifelong dedication to education and the sea-service community, this scholarship supports the children and grandchildren of enlisted sea-service personnel who are pursuing higher education and maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher. Through this award, the Navy League Foundation celebrates Capt. London’s values and commitment to uplifting future generations.

Scholarship Funding for Sea Service Descendants

College should never be out of reach for a family member of the sea services. The Navy League Foundation guarantees this support by awarding scholarships to high school seniors who will attend college in the fall. Navy League Foundation scholarships are available to children and grandchildren of veterans or active duty sea service men and women, as well as members of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Scholarship Funding for Military Spouses

Navy League and Columbia Southern University (CSU) have partnered to offer a a scholarship for military spouses. The recipient will receive 60 credit hours towards any degree program at CSU. This scholarship is open to a spouse of the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, or United States Coast Guard personnel. Scholarship Awardees

The Navy League Foundation is proud to announce scholarship recipients from the 2024-2025 cycle. These students come from families of sea service veterans and excelled in both academic achievements and extracurricular activities before attending college.
We are able to award these scholarships thanks to the generous donations our foundation receives. All of our scholarships go toward the children or grandchildren of sea service members to help offset the cost of attending a university.

Scholarship Summary

Amount: $1,000 annual awards
Number of Awards: 4
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be an undergrad student and the dependent child or spouse of Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel who legally claim Alaska as their state of residence.

Amount: $10,000 over four years
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. Preference is given to an applicant with a Native American heritage. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

Amount: $10,000 over four years
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

Amount: $10,000 over four years
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability. Preference is given to applicants who have demonstrated an interest in and an intention to continue their education in mathematics, engineering, and/or the sciences.

Amount: $2,500 (one-year scholarship, non-renewable)
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student planning to enroll in an engineering, aviation, or science curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

Amount: $10,000 over four years
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. Preference is given to descendants of members of the USS Mahan. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. Preference is given to students who are dependents of sponsors who were permanently attached to U.S. Naval Facility commands in the Philippines (Subic Bay, Cubi Point, or San Miguel) between January 1980 and December 1992. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

Amount: $10,000 over four years
Awarding Criteria: The recipient of this award will be a student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited institution of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.
