Hampton Roads Navy League Honors Local Ombudsmen at Annual Recognition Dinner

The Hampton Roads Council recently held its annual Ombudsman Recognition Dinner, welcoming 97 Ombudsmen from 71 local commands for an evening of gratitude and celebration. These dedicated volunteers serve as the critical link between commands and military families, ensuring that service members and their loved ones are supported and informed throughout the challenges of military life.

The event featured special guests Mrs. Suzanne Youngkin, First Lady of Virginia, and Admiral Daryl Caudle, Commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, who both expressed their deep appreciation for the hard work and commitment of the Ombudsmen. Admiral Caudle highlighted the vital role they play in mission readiness, helping families navigate the physical, emotional, and logistical demands of military service.

A special congratulations goes to Mrs. Jacquelyn Richardson, who was recognized as a recipient of the 2024 Mrs. Sybil Stockdale Ombudsman of the Year Award—a prestigious honor that acknowledges her outstanding service and dedication to Navy families.

The evening would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors, including USAA Life Insurance Company, Navy Mutual Aid Association, GEICO Military, TowneBank, and Retail Alliance. We also extend a sincere thank you to Bob LaBrutta and the Top Hatters Squadron, NSCC, for their presentation of the colors.

Ombudsmen are the unsung heroes of military life, bridging the gap between commands and families and providing essential support services. The Hampton Roads Council is proud to recognize their invaluable contributions and the impact they have on keeping our sea service families resilient and mission-ready.

Thank you to all of our Ombudsmen for your tireless dedication and unwavering support!
