Atlanta Metropolitan Council Packs Care Packages for Project Mail Call & Releases First-Ever Challenge Coin

Members of the Navy League of the United States, Atlanta Metropolitan Council, along with cadets and officers from the Pathfinder Excursion Squadron and the Rotary Club of Towne Lake, recently joined forces to pack care packages for the latest Project Mail Call. This initiative regularly sends much-needed items and messages of support to deployed service members, bringing a piece of home to those serving far away. Thank you to everyone who participated in making a difference for our troops!

The Atlanta Metropolitan Navy League Council also released its very first challenge coin! Proudly produced in America by Wendell’s Mint, only 100 coins have been crafted, making this a unique and collectible piece for members and supporters. Each coin is available for $25, and all proceeds will go directly to supporting local council initiatives.

The obverse side of the coin features the Navy League of the United States (NLUS) seal, while the reverse side proudly displays the text “AMC NAVY LEAGUE” arched around gold silhouette depictions of the U.S.S. Jimmy Carter (SSN-23) and U.S.S. Georgia (SSGN-729)—honoring two iconic submarines. Adding to its authenticity, the coin’s edge is inscribed with “MADE in USA WENDELL’S MINT” and “W.S. 2024”, marking it as part of this limited-edition release and bearing the initials of Council President Will Seippel.

Challenge coins have been a cherished tradition in the American military for over a century, symbolizing camaraderie, unit pride, and recognition for excellence.
