Sarasota-Manatee Council

Congratulations to the Sarasota-Manatee Council on their newly adopted ship, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Venturous. The adoption was made official during a special ceremony held on May 28 at Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg. Council President Gene Moran and Commander Karen Love Kutkiewicz, commanding officer of the Venturous, signed the official Navy League Adoption Charter during the ship’s quarters on the flight deck. To kick off the partnership, the council presented the crew with a $1,000 donation to their Morale, Welfare & Recreation fund — a small token of their deep appreciation for their service. The Sarasota-Manatee Council also welcomed former vice chief of naval operations Admiral Bill Moran for an event at The Lake Club in Lakewood Ranch. Admiral Moran shared his insights into the Navy’s evolving role in countering Pacific threats, emphasizing the need to strengthen recruitment, industrial capacity and force readiness.
