Mrs. Nancy Domenici, wife of longtime New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici and original ship sponsor of the LA-Class USS Albuquerque (SSN-706), visited the recently refurbished sail of that submarine in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 43 years after its initial christening. She shared with the New Mexico Council the original metal casing engraved with the christening date and shards from the champagne bottle still inside! The council is still hard at work pushing the city to finalize its planning for a memorial display of the sail at a local park. Learn more here.
