The Hampton Roads Council proudly hosted the Chairman’s Reception in celebration of the upcoming commissioning of the USS Harvey C. Barnum, Jr. (DDG-124). The council was especially honored to welcome three Medal of Honor recipients, including Colonel Harvey C. Barnum, Jr., whose extraordinary service and sacrifice continue to inspire generations. Their presence set a powerful tone for the evening and reminded all in attendance of the legacy behind DDG-124.
With more than 800 guests in attendance, the reception brought together family, friends, Navy leadership, industry partners and distinguished guests, including Rep. Jen Kiggans and Admiral Karl Thomas, Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command. The strong turnout reflected the deep admiration and support surrounding Colonel Barnum’s legacy and the crew of DDG-124.
The program featured special presentations to the ship and a ceremonial cake cutting, marking the significance of this historic milestone. It was an evening filled with pride, connection and shared commitment to the men and women who serve at sea. BZ Navy League! Check out more photos here.
