The National Capital Council has a great tradition of honoring a member of Congress for their efforts on Capitol Hill advocating for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. Earlier in July, the council presented Rep. Jake Ellzey with their 2015 Sea Service Award for his admirable support of the sea services. Whether persistently advancing maritime priorities before the Appropriations Committee or thoughtfully engaging with sea service leadership, Congressman Ellzey demonstrated throughout 2025 that he is a reliable partner and tenacious champion for the sea services.

In attendance were CNO Admiral Caudle; Gen. Eric Smith, commandant of the Marine Corps; Admiral Tom Allan, vice commandant of the Coast Guard; and The Honorable Hung Cao, acting secretary of the Navy. Cao, impressed with the National Capital Council’s latest event, shared his thoughts about the Navy League on his various social platforms.
With President Trump’s leadership, Congress’ support, and advocacy from organizations like @NavyLeagueUS, we will deliver the Golden Fleet to ensure our naval forces remain ready to strike, fight, and win. — The Honorable Hung Cao, via X
