Honolulu Council Honors Sailors from USS Hawaii (SSN 776)

On March 7, the Honolulu Navy League proudly presented awards to outstanding Sailors aboard their adopted submarine, USS Hawaii (SSN 776), during a special pier-side ceremony.

The council recognized six Sailors for their dedication, leadership, and contributions to the submarine’s mission:

2024 Annual Award Recipients

  • Sailor of the Year: MMN1(SS) Carlos Gonzalez
  • Junior Sailor of the Year: MMA2(SS) Chayton Wolf
  • Blue Jacket of the Year: EMN3(SS) John Weeber

First Quarter FY-25 Award Recipients

  • Sailor of the Quarter: HM1(SS/FMF) John Maldonado
  • Junior Sailor of the Quarter: STS2(SS) Hayden Olds
  • Blue Jacket of the Quarter: EMN3(SS) Maximillian Farrar

These recognitions reflect the professionalism and commitment of the USS Hawaii crew, who embody the spirit of Kūpale ‘Āina – Defending the Land.
