In late August, the Upper South Carolina Council members and others traveled to the Cowpens National Battlefield, where they enjoyed a picnic lunch, a lecture from the docent Johnny Boyd, several videos about the Revolutionary War battles in the South and a video about the first USS Cowpens. Council President Tom Donaldson presented Johnny with a Navy League challenge coin to thank him for the tour.
Tom Donaldson also traveled with council board member David Boone and the Sea Cadet Corps Guadalcanal Squadron to the retirement ceremony and reception for Lt. Cmdr. Gary Daughtery, former commanding officer of Naval Reserve Center Greenville. Thank you for supporting your local sea service members!
