Navy League members from the New York Council and the New Jersey Council worked together as part of the USS Basilone Commissioning Committee to host the ship’s commissioning ceremony at Pier 88, New York City, Nov. 9.

Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro joined the committee, the crew and the family of the ship’s namesake Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone to mark the birth of the latest ship to the U.S. Navy’s fleet. Congratulations to the committee on a successful commissioning and we hope all the best for the crew of USS Basilone in its future missions.
