When the Minnesota Council reached out about sending the state’s newly redesigned flag to the boat, the Honolulu Council helped make it happen. Along with the flag came an official letter signed by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Secretary of State Steve Simon, offering support and recognition from the state.
This week, the flag and letter were handed off to Command Master Chief Tony Amato of Submarine Squadron One at Pearl Harbor. He plans to send both items with the next Submarine Squadron team traveling to Guam, where they’ll be presented to CDR Cornielle, Commanding Officer of the USS Minnesota. A follow-up photo will be taken when the handoff is complete to confirm the flag made it to its new home.
We’re proud to share a photo of the initial handoff to CMC Amato—an example of how Navy League councils can work together across the globe to support the fleet.
